Hello, 2021!

I always thought of the hair industry as an industry that would never die out since it is always a necessity, however, I did not think it would cause outrage being shut down during a pandemic.

Clients freaking out about not getting their root touch up, politicians sneaking off to get their root touch up, and the general public finally saying “f* it” and taking matters into their own hands.

Yes, I am that annoying person who has found 2020 as a lesson that we had to be shown to slow down and learn from.

  1. Support Local.

Even though a handful of us are capable of applying our own root touch up or trimming our bangs, who wants to? It is messy, awkward and does not always turn out how we want. Get into your local hair salon, never have a bad hair day by keeping up with routine hair cuts every 4-8 weeks, and pre-book so you will not be left out. 4 weeks if you like your length, 6-8 weeks if you are trying to let it grow.

  2. Self Care.

It is important for our mental health. We may not be going to any swanky dinners or parties but, we still want to look and feel our best.

  3. Less is More.

Stylists need to focus on one client at a time and build a better client-stylist relationship. Getting to know each other on a personal level will generate a better hair style to suite your needs and communication. It also helps cut down on over crowdedness. I would rather pay more for my service for better attention and a relaxing, clean environment.

  4. No Germ Zone.

Salons were always a space where clients and stylists would always come in sick. Clients really want their hair done so they do not want to cancel, plus they do not know when the stylist would be able to reschedule them. Stylists do not want to cancel their whole day or week, call every client and then try to squeeze them in elsewhere.

    This. Needs. To. Stop.

Clients - if you, your child, spouse, or someone else living in your household is sick with a contagious illness, please call and cancel. I am not talking about just COVID, this goes for flu and stomach bug as well. Do not bring your sick child to your appointment or come to your appointment the next day after your household was puking all night with the stomach bug.

Stylist - manage your time wisely, do not overbook and it will be easier to manage your day and squeeze in rescheduled appointments.

Salons - let your employees call out!

Rest is key for many illnesses, so if you keep on going with your daily errands and appointments, it will prolong the illness and take longer to recover.
